Sports Days

Lesson: Physical education

Class: Ladybirds Year: 2015 - 2016

On Tuesday, the weather was kind to us and we had our annual Infant Sports Day.

It was a great afternoon and all the children showed a tremendous attitude and cheered each other on. All children got to particpate in every event which included javelin, sack race, egg and sppon race, sprint and of course the relay.

The final results were so close. Sycamore scored 102, Maple 104 and Willow a close second with 110. However, the winners on this occasion were Beech who scored an impressive 124 points. Tom and Anna from Year 2 proudly lifted the Infant Sports Day trophy.

The parent races were a competitve affair. A photo finish was needed with the mother race with Mrs Hughes dipping for the line. And in the father race Mr Erraji romped to victory, leaving Mr Bond in his wake; our PE lead now is coming to terms with the fact he might have to hang up his running shoes. Obviously, had Mr Walker not had a sore finger, he would have taken part and the result could well have been different!!

On Wednesday, we were so lucky with the weather and the Juniors had their sports day. There were some really competitive races and tight finishes. The children enjoyed the traditional track events along with ball between the legs and a bat and ball to the head - it's a shame these have been over looked for the forthcoming Olympics. Also, the children competed in various field events with shot putt, welly wangling and target throwing.

Willow were victorious in Key Stage 2 and it was enough points for Willow to win the overall Inter House Sport Competition. William and Amelia were the proud House Captains to hold the trophy aloft.
