Football Matches Mill View

Lesson: Physical education

Class: Year 6 Kestrels Year: 2016 - 2017

We played 2 matches with Mill View Primary; both were league matches for the Year 3 and 4 team and the Year 5 and 6 team.

Mr Chapman Brown stepped in to coach the Year 3 and 4s and it was one of those classic matches that could have gone either way. After a slow start, the team went 2 - 0 down, but they fought back with a goal from Jonnie to make it 2 -1. Mill View hit back to make it 3 -1 and in the last quarter it looked like Mill View were about to have a comfortable victory. But Farndon were not beaten. Harry Nove got one back and then Sam scored a classic after good work down the left from James. It looked to have salvaged a draw and a precious 2 points for the league. But to their credit, with just minutes left, Mill View had other ideas. They pressed for winner and the game ended 5 - 3 to Mill View. Man of the Match was a tough decision as Oliver Heaton was immense in defence, but the award this time goes to Sam in Year 3; he confidently stepped in and scored a debut goal for the team - something he will remember for a long time.

The Year 5 and 6 team have started the season well with 2 wins and 1 draw. Could they keep their unbeaten start going?

We started brightly and within the first 5 minutes Leo could have scored a hat trick but the keeper pulled off some fine saves. The break through came from a long Todd goal kick. Leo did a deft flick out to Tom who applied the finish. Mill View hit back though and it was 1 -1 at half time. Farndon came out fighting and earnt an early corner. The ball bounced around in the box and Tom was on hand once again to make it 2 - 1. It was then all Farndon. Todd had a sweet strike that burst the top corner of the net, although Daniel  is claiming it as it hit his chest on the way in. Then Leo turned provider with a lovely run on the left and slid it through for Tom to complete his hat trick. The game ended with a well earnt victory 4 -2. There were top performances across the whole team. Tom and Todd were magnificent in midfield. Butmy man of the match goes to Leo. A totally committed performance that he can be so proud of, with 2 assists and on another day would have scored a hat trick himself. That puts us top of league with games against Christleton and Hoole left to play.
