Remembrance Day

Nationally, we of course remember those people who gave their lives in various conflicts on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

Reverend Scurr came into school and led an assembly of remembrance and the children then observed the 2 minute silence.

Mr Gallagher also came into school and worked with Year 6. Over the last few years, he has been campaigning for a war memorial to be built in Churton to honour those who fought and died in the the Great Wars who lived in the village. The Year 6 pupils got the chance to handle artefacts such as their uniform, bullets, shells and helmets. The class were also fascinated to see a photograph of a class from Farndon Primary in the early 1900s. Sadly, some of the boys in that picture grew up to go to war and never came home. Their names could be found on the memorial in the chruch yard.

We thank Mr Gallagher for giving his time and joining us in our remembrance service and wish him well in memorial project.
