Girls' Football Team

At Farndon, we feel it is so important to promote girls' teams sports as a way of trying to promote a love of a chosen sport and hopefully continuing with it as they move on up to High School and beyond. For several years now, we have had a Girls' Football team and each year we get better and better.

We participated in the Chester City tournament and were drawn in a tough group with multiple previous winners! Our first match could not have been much harder - Acresfield. It was a tough game, but we matched them and at times played the better football. Farrah was tough tackling in midfield, but any breaks that did get through was gobbled up by Imogen at centre back. Our second game was against Tarvin and our attackers began to show their quality. Just 7 seconds in, Farrah played it down the right for Molly to run onto and score. Farrah set up Mollie again who scored to make it a 2 - 0 victory. A special mention to Imogen though who was outstanding at the back stopping two 1 on 1 situations. She was our team's answer to Van Dijk!

Our final game was against Our Ladys. We dominated with the ball and Farrah hit the crossbar. But with time running out the pressure finally told and we got a penalty. Farrah confidently smashed it home for a 1 - 0.

With 2 wins and 1 draw and not conceding a single goal we qualified for the semi-finals against Acorns. They scored a fortunate early goal from a speculative long punt up field. Polly played the ball through to Sienna who scored. However, it wasn't enough and it was a 2 - 1 loss. The girls played some wonderful football and can be very proud of themselves to make the semi-finals. In just a few weeks, they will do it all again in the Christleton tournament. Well done girls!
