Football Champions
On Tuesday, the School's football team went to defend their title from last year against the schools in the local area.
Each game was only 7 minutes long, so each game was going to be tight. First we had to qualify from our group. In our first game, Jack M calmly finished in a 1 - 0 win against Malpas. Then, we drew 0 - 0 with Bickerton. In our next game, Jack scored twice in a 2 - 0 win against Tattenhall (B) and this was followed by another brace from Jack to win 2- 0 against Clutton.
And so to the semi finals where we came up against Tilston. It was a tense affair and we dominated much of the game but just could not find the winning goal. The dreaded penalites would decide the outcome. Archie and Jack calmly slotted home their penalties to send us to the final against Tattenhall.
The final was another tight affair. There was a nervous moment from a corner but Jack kept us in the game, deflecting it onto the post. In the dying minutes, Jack raced clear after a lovely through ball from Archie and it was 1 - 0!That was how it stayed: CHAMPIONS!
It was a fitting way to end the season having finish third in the Chester league - winning a trophy without conceding a goal. Well done to all the boys who represented the school so well and a big thank you to all the parents for their fabulous support throughout the season.
