Cross Country

In the words of Mr Bond - was it ever in doubt?

I think it is fair to say that we have waited a LONG time for this! With no inter school sports due to COVID, I think staff, pupils and our parents have hugely missed competitive sport. Last year, there was a virtual cross country, but I think there were issues with different distances run in different schools. With sport firmly back on the agenda, Mr Bond and the team we chomping at the bit to get out there, perform and compete.

Mr Firkins and Mr Bond have been working the children hard with long distance runs in PE and at lunch break.

Mr Bond gave a special mention to the Year 1 pupils. He was hugely impressed with how they stayed and supported the team and commented on how fantastically well behaved they were - well done guys; Henry, Blake, Harriet and Jessica you gave it your all. And Harriet and Jessica even got a second and third place finish respectively.

They set the tone for the rest of the Year group races! In Year 2, Logan and Henry did amazingy well and once again the girls got on the podium; Eloise came 3rd and Nancy came 2nd.

What could the Juniors do? Having won when in Year 1, Alfie came a brilliant second and Toby 5th. But it was the girls once again. Mollie came second and Zara claimed the gold!!!!!!!! Our Year 4 pupils all ran well, some competing for the school for the very first time; they all finsihed in the top 10.

Our Year 5 pupils, inspired by all the other performances no doubt, did incredibly well. The Norman brothers reminded everyone of the Brownlee brothers from the Triathlon series. They pushed each other all the way with a 4th and a 2nd. And Eyra also claimed a silver!

And finally, the Year 6 pupils capped things off nicely. Rhys and Dylan ran well and finished in 4th and 6th. But it was the girls once again - Freya claiming silver and Harriet romping home for the gold!

The scores were in, counted and verified. Mr Bond's nails were chewed down to stumps. But there was no need to worry. Farndon brought the trophy back home. Cross Country Champions 2021
