Chester Football Cup

On Friday, we took part in the Chester Football tournament. 

Mr Bond took temporary charge and the team were keen to do well. Our first match was against J H Godwin. After going a goal down we hit back with goals from Alex and Travis. 

Next up it was Waverton. Travis was on fire and scored the winner for a 1 - 0 victory. Our third match was against Acresfield who beat us in the league. Revenge was ours as Daniel scored in a 1 - 0 win. The group stage finished with a 1 - 0 defeat to Oldfield.

With 3 wins it was enough to top the group. We met a strong St Werburghs in the semi-final. A tense game ended 0 - 0. Extra time and still no goals. 2 minutes of golden time were added and sadly they scored with seconds left. 

We then faced Newton in the play off and Alex played a delicious ball through for Oliver to finish off. With a 3rd place finish we have now qualified for the Nationals to be held at Crewe Alex. 

Player of the match was Travis. A terrific performance with a couple of goals - he gave it everything!
