Broxton Cricket Tournament

The sun was shining, there was a little grass on wicket and the cucumber sandwiches were ready; it was time for the Broxton cricket tournament.

Our first match was against a strong Malpas team. There was some confusion on whether wide balls should be bowled again in the last over - and it cost us! With one ball remaining we held a 2 run lead, and it was the extra ball after a wide. It was struck for four and it was a2 run defeat.

The team responded well though. Against Tushingham, we piled on the runs and achieved a daunting target of 296. They could only manage 264 and it was our first win. Next up was Tilston. Our bowling attack took wickets and limited them to just 206. We raced on to a 61 run win.

The first match defeat proved costly. It meant we didn't win the group and so we were in the 3rd / 4th play off. It was against Bickerton and our batting attack showed their class once again - scoring 280. Another win and this time by 42 runs. Luck wasn't on our side this time, but the children can be very proud of their third place finish.
