Headteacher's blog Week Beginning 26th January
Date: 1st Feb 2015 @ 3:23pm
I have been inundated this week with children from the Infants coming to show me their writing as they were so proud of it. Clearly, their topics are really inspiring them to write. The infant children are enjoying their Superheroes topic and have been writing about their own superhero. In the Early Years, the children have loved learning about dinosaurs ( one of my favourite topics ). This week has been particularly exciting as the children have been looking after their own dinosaur eggs that they had found. The children created a little nest for them and by the end of the week they all hatched. I am yet to find out exactly what came out of these eggs. I'm keeping my eyes peeled and hoping that they are not related to a T Rex!!
It was another busy week with sport. The footballers triumphed against Delamere in the league with a 6 - 0 victory. Next week it is Tatenhall. Also, we sent a team to an athletics tournament. They performed well and finished a creditable fourth. Next week it is Handball where we go as defending champions and we do not want to give up the trophy without a fight!
A big thank you to those parents who attended the SATs talk for Year 6. I hope everyone found it useful and that they left with lots of practical tips on how they can support their children at home.
At the end of week, the school's Improvement Partner, an OFSTED inspector, came into school to carry out aspects of an inspection. The day was busy to say the least, but was a very positive one. He was pleased with the school's health and safety and safeguarding procedures and the behaviour of the pupils. He was very complimentary of the work carried out by the school in this last year, particularly witht the improvements in writing and the school's engagement with the community through the website.
Next week, I hope to carry out pupil voice questionairres to find out how the pupils feel the school has progressed in the last year.
