Headteacher Weekly blog week beginning 4th July

Date: 9th Jul 2016 @ 4:15pm

Summer is always a busy time of year and as we near the end of term it has been non stop.

Year 2 have thoroughly enjoyed their literacy topic inspired by the book - "The Bog Babies". As well as doing lots of writing related to the book, they also designed and then made their very own  Bog Baby. Before sewing it up, they kissed the heart before placing it in. All the children had their photo taken with their Bog Baby in the pond area. Now their writing and Bog Babies have been sent to the publishers. All the pictures are on the website.

Year 5 have been busy this week on their 2 huge projects! The children have been busy creating their weavings for the Art festival. Having created their frames, they are now weaving on them to create different seasons - they are starting to take shape and looking great! This week, they have also been making their own biscuits as part of their Enterprise project. The pupils had to work as a team and design and make their own biscuits and then sell them in order to make money; similiar to running their own business. On Friday, when selling the biscuits, it was like a scene from the Apprentice. Thankfully however, no one on this occasion got fired!

The week was dominated by the Year 3 and 4 summer show. The children did a fantastic job when performing their Hansel and Gretel show. The children put their own little twist on the traditional story. The singing was fantastic, as was the dancing. I was amazed how confident the children were on stage. It was a real joy to see the children have an opportunity to shine in different areas of the curriculum. Lots of photographs can be found in the gallery.

Just little over a week to go and so much to fit in - the Year 3 and 4 Champions Cup match, Arts day for Year 5, Heber Art Festival for Year 5 and of course the Year 6 Leavers Service.

The final countdown is on....
