Headteacher weekly blog week beginning 17th March
Date: 23rd Apr 2017 @ 11:04am
First week back and it is hard to believe it is the start of the summer term!
The week began with the crunch match agaisnt Belgrave in the sem-final of the cup. It was such an exciting game and great to be a part of. Although we took a 3 - 1 lead, Belgrave fought back so well and won the match in extra time. Both teams were an absolute credit to their schools. I am vey proud with how well the Year 5 and 6 footballers have performed this year. Next week we look forward to Champions trophy in Liverpool on Monday. And then the Year 1 and 2 and Year 3 and 4 teams will pit their wits againt other local schools at the Heber. Fingers crossed they all play well and enjoy themselves.
Our theme in assemblies this term is respect and tolerance. We kicked things off by looking at what respect means, how it looks in our school and people we should respect. The children gave some interesting thoughts and I have invited them to share some more of their opinions on the discussion platform. Normally, we look at the British Value of democracy in the Autumn term, but our Prime Minister has thrown yet another election and we are not one to miss out on an opportunity. Mrs McCarthy plans to hold a general election with Year 5 pupils like we did in 2015. Let the campaigning begin!
The Year 1 and 2 classes had their African showcase this week to share with parents all the art work, writing, singing and dnacing they have done throughout the Spring term. The singing was fantastic and the children looked great in their African headdresses. Thank you to all those parents who came and completed comment sheets that were all so positive. As one parent said, "It was lovely to see all of the Infants hard work and obvious enthusaism."
