Head's blog Week beginning 27th October

Date: 27th Oct 2014 @ 8:50am

This first half term was such a long one but we managed to make the very most of the 8 weeks. The children have certainly earnt their week of rest.

I was in Nursery this week to watch their maths. To be honest I could not get out of there quick enough! I am not very keen on spiders and they were everywhere!!! But when I got over my phobias, I had a wonderful time counting with numbers 1 - 10, using the huge class spider and their spider counting songs.

Talking of being frightened, the Halloween disco was well attended with a host of skeletons, ghouls, ghosts and zombies. The children had a great time - I don't know where the DJ gets his energy from! A big thank you to all the Parents involved from the PTA who helped the event run so smoothly.

I spent Wednesday morning teaching in Mrs Wakefield's Literacy and Numeracy classes. The Literacy class were fantastic and we tried to scare each other with suspense writing, trying to create tension. After marking them in the evening, I had to sleep with the landing light on! And continuing with the scary theme with the maths class we did some algebra! It was scary at first, but the children were fantastic and rose to the challenge and their attitude to their learning was brilliant. By the end of the lesson, some of the children were solving problems like 3b - 10 = 20  what is b?

And finally, it was definitely no "horror" show when the rugby team went to take part in the Chester tournament. Although we did not get out of the group, the games was so competitve and tight, losing by just 1 try!! And we also won one of our games. Well done to the team as they gave it their all!

I hope everyone has a wonderful half term and I look forward to the next half term already.
