Head's blog Week beginning 20th October

Date: 19th Oct 2014 @ 11:24am

This first half term is a long one and we have certainly made the most of the 8 weeks.

Some Parents may well have heard that we had a naughty Jackal sneak into school after the children had gone home. It made a total mess of the Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms, leaving paw prints all over the tables and floor! Some children then came to see me to tell me Sunny, the Meerkat, had been kidnapped! The children have had an enjoyable week writing about the Jackal and created some Wanted posters, hoping to find him and get Sunny back.

Sport:

Last week the Year 5 and 6 children have had more sporting opportunities. The football team had a fantastic cup match against Oldfields Primary. This is the first time in several years that the school has taken part in the Chester Schools League. It was such a competitve game and Tommy, on the right wing, scored with a sweet strike. The game finsihed 1 -1 but sadly, after extra time, we lost on penalties. But I was so proud of the commitment of the players and it bodes well for the league.

On Thursday, the Hockey team entrered a Chester Schools tournament. They performed so well, winning 2 of their games convincingly. This time we didn't quite make the semis but as always, the children represented the school so well. This week, the Rugby team, having come so close in the previous tournament, are entering the Chester Schools Tournament so good luck to them.

In Year 3 and 4 the children have been enjoying their technology work. They have been working hard making felt so that they can make some trousers for Ug as he is so cold in his cave. I can't wait to see the finished trousers.

I think everyone at the school will be more than ready for a well earned rest at half term after such a busy few weeks.
