Summer Fayre

Lesson: PSHE and citizenship

On Friday, we held this year's Summer Fayre. The theme was, "The Great British Summer Fayre." As part of our traditional summer fayre, we had cream teas with delicious scones with jam and cream. Also, no British Summer Fayre would be complete without a baking competiton. There were some fantastic entries and the judging was tough, carried out by Mr Walker and Georgina, the school cook. I was looking for any soggy bottoms! Alanah's hedgehog was fantastic and won the children's category.

Along with the baking competition, we also had the unusual veg competition. The sheep made of cauliflowers won hands down.

We held our yearly crowning of the Rose Queen, and this year Leah from Year 6 was chosen. She did a fantastic job during the presentation. We were then treated to a wonderful dance from the Year 4 children looking at countries in the Commonwealth and they performed a dance inspired by Aboriginal music.

The children were entertained by traditional fayre games such as a test of strength and a swing ride. Also, the Year 6 pupils held their Enterprise project. They were given the task to make their money grow and produce a business relating to a British Summer Fayre. They did a wonderful job and raised lots of money.

It was a great afternoon, and a big thank you to all the hard work of the PTA members and staff who helped to make the afternoon a success.
