Headteacher blog Week Beginning 16th March
Date: 22nd Mar 2015 @ 8:25am
It was another enjoyable week in school.
Wednesday was certainly a highlight as the Year 4 children took part in a dance festival at the Heber High School. Miss Schofield did a marvellous job preparing the children. Our performance was based on aboriginal art work that they have been studying in class. The routine was filled with dance content and was so fast and energetic. I can't believe how the children managed to remember all those moves! Well done to the Year 4 children.
I was in some Junior classes this week to watch maths lessons. The Year 5 and 6 pupils loved their warm up with the game Sometimes Always Never.. They were then solving some very complex problems. What was realy pleasing was their atitude to their learning because when finding a problem hard, they showed real perseverance and met the challenges with a smile. Some asked me for help but even I was struggling with some! Well done to the pupils; I was hugely impressed with your hard work in maths.
The Year 5 and 6 enjoyed a trip to Knowsley Safari Park as part of their "Endangered" topic. However, before they left the pupils had the opportunity to use their boxes and cards to observe the solar eclipse. Other classes also came outside and we were fortunate that there was not much cloud cover so we got a really good view.
The week did end with an important message regarding stranger danger. Certain members of our community had reported suspicious activity of someone close to the school. As a school, the safety of the pupils takes the highest priority and we responded to these reports with stranger danger talks in assembly. We have also liaised with the local police officer for our Village, Jonathan Hurst, who will follow this up with another assembly later in the term.
Next week it is Parents Evening and I look forward to speak with families and encourage Parents to complete a questionairre on the school.
